Special facts

After the reform of 1961 a hundred-ruble note of 1947 was worth ten new rubles.

Appearance

Grey color scheme. The obverse has a bust of Lenin and the USSR state emblem, with the denomination in 15 languages of the union republics: the same as on the "16 republics" note, minus Karelian; the reverse shows a view of the Moscow Kremlin. The paper carries a watermark bust of Lenin. The note's own title reads "State Bank Note". No signatures. 228 × 115 mm. It entered circulation in 1957, yet the note still bears the year 1947. A variety with the series АА is known, along with a specimen with an "ОБРАЗЕЦ" perforation.

About the period

The banknotes of the 1947 currency reform are seven denominations from 1 to 100 roubles dated "1947". The reform exchanged old money for new at 10 to 1 and removed the surplus of money accumulated during the war. More about the period “1947 Monetary Reform”
