Tajikistan — Issue of 1999 (1999 — 2025)

The first somoni notes are dated 1999 and entered circulation on 30 October 2000 together with the new currency. They were printed by Giesecke+Devrient of Leipzig: the dirams from 1 to 50 and the somoni from 1 to 100.

The 10 to 100 somoni were later reprinted with new dates and updated security. The notes carry the signature of the Chairman of the National Bank, so a change of the bank's head gives separate varieties.
