Russian Federation — Issue of 1993 (1993 — 1994)

The Bank of Russia notes of the 1993 pattern run from 100 to 50,000 roubles. The whole series is devoted to the Moscow Kremlin: each denomination has its own towers, and the 1,000 roubles also shows St Basil's Cathedral. All denominations follow one layout and differ in colour and size.

Counterfeits were so common that in 1994 the higher denominations — 5,000, 10,000 and 50,000 roubles — were reissued with stronger security; these notes are called the 1994 modification. After the redenomination of 1998 they were replaced by the money of the 1997 pattern.
