RSFSR — “Pyatakov notes” (1918)

The "Pyatakov notes" are the credit notes of 1918 prepared by the Provisional Government. What makes them Soviet is only the facsimile signature of G. Pyatakov, Chief Commissioner of the People's Bank.

The double-headed eagle without imperial regalia on the back follows a sketch by Ivan Bilibin. The notes were printed at the Goznak factory in Penza. Because of the October Revolution the issue was postponed, and the notes reached circulation only in May 1919, the 5,000 and 10,000 roubles in December.

The second signature on a note is a cashier's. For the denominations up to 1,000 roubles the cashier can be told by the last digit of the block number, for the 5,000 and 10,000 roubles by the series letters.

There are no collector items in the period «Pyatakov notes».
