Flag of the Kirghiz SSR
1991–1992 Flag of the Kirghiz SSR After independence was proclaimed on 31 August 1991 the country used the flag of the Kirghiz SSR for another half year: red with a blue band split by a white stripe, and a hammer and sickle.
Red flag with the sun and tunduk
1992–2023 Red flag with the sun and tunduk The flag was adopted on 3 March 1992: a golden sun with forty rays on a red field, one for each of the tribes that Manas united according to legend, with a tunduk, the lattice crown of a yurt, at its centre.
Updated flag
since 2023 Updated flag In December 2023 the flag was changed: the wavy rays of the sun were straightened so that it would not resemble a sunflower, and the tunduk was redrawn.

1991–1994 Emblem of the Kirghiz SSR Until 1994 the independent republic kept the emblem of the Kirghiz SSR, with the hammer and sickle, mountains and sun in a wreath of wheat and cotton.
State emblem of Kyrgyzstan
1994–2016 State emblem of Kyrgyzstan The emblem was adopted on 14 January 1994: the white falcon Ak-Shumkar with outspread wings against Issyk-Kul, the snowy peaks of the Ala-Too and the rising sun, framed by wheat and cotton.
Refined state emblem
since 2016 Refined state emblem In 2016 the drawing of the emblem was refined: the sun and the ears of wheat became gold, and waves appeared on the surface of Issyk-Kul.

Anthems

1992–2012 · State Anthem of the Kyrgyz Republic (three verses)

Music: Nasyr Davlesov and Kalyi Moldobasanov · Words: Jalil Sadykov and Shabdanbek Kuluyev

The anthem was adopted by the Supreme Council on 18 December 1992. The first version had three verses; the music can be heard in the recording of the current anthem.

Ак мөңгүлүү аска, зоолор, талаалар,
Элибиздин жаны менен барабар.
Сансыз кылым Ала-Тоосун мекендеп,
Сактап келди биздин ата-бабалар.

Кайырма:
Алгалай бер, кыргыз эл,
Азаттыктын жолунда.
Өркүндөй бер, өсө бер,
Өз тагдырың колуңда.

Байыртадан бүткөн мүнөз элиме,
Досторуна даяр дилин берүүгө.

On 27 December 2012 parliament removed the second verse from the anthem: the word “beikuttuk” in it can be read both as “peace” and as “misfortune”.
